ABOUT US

Our operations are generally centered in the Bee, Live Oak, Goliad, Atascosa, and Calhoun Counties of South Texas. Recently, in the interest of acquiring more of a cattle marketing network and more quality pastures, we have expanded our operations to involve joint ventures and "pasture partners" with trusted associates.

We have entered into some joint venture partnerships with our long time friends, Ken and Jennifer Scott, of Bowie, Texas. In addition to being above reproach ethically, Ken's judgment on cattle, people, and markets has been a great asset to have on our team. Ken and I have been friends and traded together since 1993.

In December of 2009, we were fortunate to have leased the 11,000 acre LaSalle Ranch in Calhoun County near Port O'Connor, Texas in a partnership with Heath Harkins and Jimmy Van Cleve. Heath is a descendant of one of the largest ranching families in the area and his wife, Katherine, is a granddaughter of the legendary Texas Ranger, Jack VanCleve.

Katherine's father, Jimmy, and his son-in-law Heath have asked us to join them in managing and operating this large ranch. We are very excited about this opportunity and are having lots of fun along with Heath and Jimmy getting organized and setting up our operation.

The LaSalle is part of the original 58,000 acre ranch originally purchased by "Captain Bill" Bauer in the early part of the 20th Century. It is set up beautifully and we look forward to making it an integral part of our cattle marketing network.

Jimmy and his wife, Donnie have been with Morman's Feed for many years managing South Texas, Mexico, and Carribean dealers. They will be a great asset along with Heath and Katherine.

Some of our most treasured friends and associates in the South Texas cattle industry are our "Pasture Partners". These are our trusted associates that share in some of our cattle ventures as full partners in return for access to their Ranches. In return, we provide some of the marketing expertise along with our labor and management contributions.

Currently, we are proud to be in these relationships with Pettus Ranches, David Crow Ranches, and Bert Steindorf's Valley Ranch. Jim Pettus from Goliad is a descendant of one of the original pioneer families in the County and has done business with us in some form or another since about 1998. He has some beautiful ranch country along the San Antonio River and also is a Registered Brahman Breeder. Jim and his Ranch Manager, Fred Pena, do a great job handling cattle horseback and have some great facilities.

David Crow and his wife, Becky from Corpus Christi are longtime friends and David is a 20 year TSCRA director. Crow Ranches, Inc. has some of the best ranch country in the area and operates extensively in several South Texas Counties. Currently, we are privileged to join him on one of his excellent grass ranches near Pawnee. We consider him a great asset and his crews have worked cattle with us many times over the years along with his nephew, J. R. Turnbull. David and his foreman, Timmy Anzaldua are always well mounted and are just like us - they love to work cattle! They have great management skills and have contacts among some of the most prominent families in the cattle business.

Bert Steindorf, of Corpus Christi, grew up with me in Alice, Texas and has been a good friend for over 30 years. His late Father, Bert Sr., was a big rancher in the 60's and 70's in several counties, including his native Jim Wells, Webb, and others. Bert, Jr. is a prominent Brahman Breeder and owns one of the best cows in the breed. He also owns several successful businesses in the Oil and Gas industry and purchased a ranch in Bee County several years ago. He has turned it into one of the most pristine properties in the area and re-named it The Valley Ranch. We are lucky to be associated with him on this "picture perfect" operation."
